That, and sit in bars, get drunk, and create weird art with his pals from the Drink and Draw Social Club.

David Vandervoort
David Vandervoort

An embarrassment to the Portland Vandervoorts, Dave’s application to Cal Arts was denied. He still managed to land a job as an animator at a small cd-rom startup in Portland, after that company folded and at the strong urging of the rest of the Vandervoorts, Dave left Portland.

The next decade Dave was not unlike David Carradine’s nomadic character in the famous 70’s TV series Kung Fu, only he’s an animator.

David worked at various animation studios in Vancouver and New York where he held nearly every artistic position, specializing in traditional animation. In Los Angeles he worked for The Cartoon Network, Klasky Csupo and other studios on commercials, TV shows, feature pitches, illustration and most notably, the Emmy nominated opening to “The Anna Nicole Show”. In his favorite city, San Francisco, he worked at Wild Brain as their lead 2D animator, working on such campaigns as Coke, Cap’n Crunch, Esurance, Nesquik and others.

David is now in Hollywood making his own movie and working for Titmouse. A real self-made super talented weirdo. Take that Vandervoorts.
